i'm rather new to gardening :D

i ordered 25 lilies off ebay! (yes, i am hooked to my pc)and they were cheaper than the garden centre!

the lilies arrived today and i've just gone to plant them up, they are already sprouting! they look a tad sad! :?

any tips greatfully received!

i planted 10-10cms deep in big big pots! not sure that was the correct thing to do-but there you go!!

Jopsy, i take it we are talking about base rooting lilies, if so it is getting a little late for planting really. You have planted them about the right depth so just keep your fingers crossed for a glorious display.
Hope there not water lilies or you could have got it wrong.

Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

Theres no fool like an old fool.

I wanted them because it's my daughters name! (sad, i know!)
Thank you :D

I love lillies, I think the various types are just the most beautiful flowers (and roses).

Please be careful if you have cats though, I've heard the pollen can be toxic to them.

I heard on the news a while back a cat had died after eating a lily, found this article...

http://www.moggies.co.uk/articles/easter_lily.html

I'm pretty useless at being able to tell which lillies are which so I don't have any at all in the house unless they are way way out of cats reach to be on the safe side.....

Thanks for the information about cats, franksmum. My friend found her cat dead yesterday morning with no visible signs of attack or anything, just a bit of spittle round the mouth. I have just rung her and warned her as she does have lots of lillies and another cat!
