Storing cucumbers

I'm picking quite a few mini cucumbers from my plants before they grow too big (5" -6") and wonder what is the best way of storing them. If I put them in the salad tray in my fridge the skins either go slightly mushy after a while or they go limp. They're beautifully crisp and crunch when first picked and I'd like to be able to keep them in that condition if possible.

Dear Primrose, i must admit i don't know a way of keeping them fresh, so not a lot of help there. But it is nice to see you posting again.

Well we have had one cucumber in the fridge, and one in a open dish on the worktop, for a week, and the one on the work top if fine, the one in the fridge is floppy.....
