Checking out the squash & found this little beauty hidden away in the leaf growth - I know how could I have missed it?
I always plant out one melon of various types under cloches etc but although have had success nothing as good as this little ripper!

Ooooh! Well done. What's it like inside - red? Yellow?

I tried growing watermelons once, only once. I got lots of very ornamental foliage but no flowers, and of course no fruits. It wasn't a particularly good summer that year. It's night temperatures that need to be maintained, is my understanding. I'd be interested to know how you got yours to fruit: under glass, under cloches, how much water, which variety?

Dear Westi, i must say i'm very impressed.

But it wasn't ripe Was going 2 leave it as stem still green but some one else told me would be ready if sounded hollow! Got to go with instinct not advice!

Another couple of weeks would have had the perfect melon! Maybe!!
