Runner Bean Seeds

I know that I can save runner bean seeds for next years plants, but could I leave some to get big and then dry them for winter stews and casseroles or are they safe to eat?.

Edible, yes, but perfectly awful to eat.

I agree, Felix. Much better to save French bean seeds. Pod when ripe but not dry and freeze unblanched.

Please check an earlier post or check on line about how to cook them to make sure they don't make you ill.

Thank you Peter, Felix, Alan and P.Pudding I won't save them if they are not good to eat, just ones for next years plants. as usual growing too many have given lots away.
Alan when you say French do you mean the climbing ones ? I grow Blue Lake as well and have put in the freezer.

Dwarf and climbing, though I usually freeze climbing.
