A really BIG electric storm here last night, sky lit up almost continuosly at around 10.30pm...swiftly followed by torrential rain and then me mopping the kitchen floor as the gully outside the back door couldn't cope with the volume of water...

There followed discussions about why the leaves hadn't been cleared from the gully lately!

We were very civilised about it. The whole sit-com thing of me in dressing gown and wellies avec le mop and himself in trousers and deck shoes prodding the gully with a handy stick at 11pm in a thunderstorm came into play really

No harm done, (stone floors are great), just roll back the rug and it was dry by morning.

We live fairly high up and can see for several miles from our garden. And last night we had the excitement of watching a big storm. It lit up the entire southern/southeastern sky for about an hour with flash after flash though we ourselves never got a drop of rain.

I hope your storm did not do too much damage to your garden, MW!

We were fine in the garden, gave everything a good soak but there were large hailstones on some parts of the island and a couple of stable blocks had their roofs ripped off apparently. There is talk of a mini tornado... which is all very well in hindsight, bit like the hurricane in '87.

MW - just a few miles away at Mudeford & it swerved around us! (No doubt Hengistbury Head influenced it's path!) Had to water today on lottie!!!

Supposed to be coming down tomorrow here though!

As long as the ground gets a decent soak without the damage Westi. It half filled an old water tank that I keep on the allotment which is good as it was getting down. I usually chuck a net bag filled with comfrey leaves in it so I must get that done or it'll be a bit of a weak feed.
