Mr Piglet had been looking around on Ebay over the last few weeks (ever since the aliens returned him to me after doing their experiments on him!).

Well, he found one and it is only a few roads away from us. We've been to see it, and have put a deposit on it. Going to dismantle it and bring it home this weekend.

Mr P wants to find some sleepers this weekend to place it on, so it may not be up and running for another few weeks (what with the heat and holiday).

But, YAYYYYY!!! :D :D :D

Well Piglet6, you have him well trained. Just remember when dismantling that greenhouse glass is the expensive bit...

Get some two by one treated timber battens.
Once you've struggled to get the sleeper base in roughly the right place, arrangement and dimensions, just sit the frame on them.

Then cut the battens to the exact size, arrange them perfectly on top of the sleepers using the frame as a guide and a set square for corners, then screw them down.

You still gave to have got the sleepers level first, but they're rough old things.

When you re-glaze dont do one side at a time but put in the corner pieces all round including the roof, it helps to keep it square. And have a tin to put all the nuts, bolts and glazing clips in, these are also expensive! Take pics before you dismantle particularly of which way the diagonal struts go

I did the one on the allotment on my own, took my time and argued only with myself

Glaze the roof first. Clean each pane and polish up the purlins as you fit them — makes the finished house look like new. Make absolutely sure the base is perpendicular (measure the diagonals to be equal). I recommend a course of bricks as a base, if you're to avoid woodlice, slugs and all the other stuff that lives in chunks of wood.

I'm assuming it's an aluminium house. Be careful not to over-tighten the nuts and bolts, since they are also aluminium, as they are weakened for being re-used and tend to shear. Look at the length of the bolts and note where the longer bolts are fitted, how many bolts fit into a grove and so on. Of course, if you're moving it from only a few blocks away, you can leave most of it assembled.

I put up a greenhouse for my ex not that long ago. I got it for nowt through Freecycle. It needed a few new panes, though. If you need any new glass, be sure to ask for horticultural glass.
Allotment, but little achieved.

If you know the model you might be able to download a manual or ask on here - you never know the owners might have one. Check if it uses any rubber sealing strips and look what condition they are in.
There are lots of bits on eBay if you search for greenhouse nuts and bolts.
Good luck.

Got my second greenhouse free from a neighbour near the lottie, we had to dismantle and reassemble it.. took it down in 5 sections so it was a lot easier to reassemble pluss the original instructuctions were included. I had to replace a couple of panes of glass and all was good. :)

we marked al the odd shaped bits of glass, to help rehome them correctly. the remainder was all the same size & shape. I put all the glass back myself, it was very satisfying. I only broke one piece, just took a corner off as I pressed too hard getting the clip in situ. Good luck, how lucky to have found one so close :)
