Here's how the plot looked on 1st July. Nothing shows up very well, but there are in fact about 21 different things planted/sown.

You'll need to bear in mind that I'm a whole month behind, so things are looking pretty small at the moment.

Crops that are in:-
carrots x 2 varieties, beetroot, spring onions, shallots, lavender :o), pumpkins, courgettes, rhubarb, runner beans, peas, french beans x 2 varieties, brussels sprouts, cabbages, chilli peppers, baby sweetcorn, aubergines, coriander, leeks, radishes x 2 varieties, lettuces, perpetual spinach, mixed salad leaves.

I make that 25 different items :o)

Everyone that walks by says that I'm doing really well, and apparently the general consensus is that it is a credit to me. *waits patiently for a biscuit :o)*

I'm going to HAVE TO make this work.....Chatting with my Mum at the weekend I discovered that one of my Grandads was Head Gardener at a very beautiful old house - Wilton House in Salisbury, Wiltshire - which is open to the public. I've had a good look at the gardens on the t'interweb. Oh My!!!! My other Grandad was a gardener too, but I don't wether that was professionally or otherwise. I'll find out more! So, at least this means I should have gardening in my blood. Fingers crossed, eh. I don't want to let them down!

Yesterday morning I could see french beans breaking through the soil, with their bent-over stalks. They were only planted 8 days previously!!! When I returned in the afternoon 2 of the beans had popped through completely and were proudly sitting there leaves stretched out!! I couldn't believe it!!

Oh, and I've already started to harvest radishes. Ok, so they're only radish, but, hey, I grew them from seed so they do count, don't they?

Well done Piglet. You've done enormously well in such a short time and I'm sure the family reputation is in safe hands. There's not much that can beat the pleasure of picking your very first crops. But watch out for the slugs on those French Beans peeping through !

Excellent progress Piglet.

John

PS need to get a spirit level on that greenhouse before it slides off the plot!

Primrose, thanks for the tip. I have put some pellets down, but I'll put a few more down!!

John, PMSL, I know!! That is actually on the bottom half of the plot, so is someone elses plot. I have the half nearest the camera (the two wooden boxes on the right hand side are in the bottom corner of my area). The chap said he's going to straighten it up next year.

Wow, what a change from the weed and grass overgrown plot you first showed us! I bet you are already making plans on what to sow and plant next year!

I seem to be growing my own weeds, thanks RetroPants :)

I'll take another photo in a few weeks time. Hopefully things may have caught up a little bit to where they SHOULD be for the time of year.

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. It's really encouraging :)

Bit of piglet poo and they'll romp away, perhaps not.
