Never again will I whine when our local roads are crowded with caravans and the sea full of roaring jet-skis, and that only for about eight weeks of the year.

Got this from our granddaughter who is working in Venice, with the comment "This of one of the crazy huuuuuge cruise ships that cast a shadow over the city as they go past with hundreds of chunky people looking down taking photos. There are lots of protests going on at the moment to get rid of the giant ships."

Oh my!!!! What an eyesore, no wonder they are protesting. These cruise ships are getting ridiculously big now and look stupidly top heavy - an accident waiting to happen and when it does ........

Dear VPM, a lot of things these days are stupidly top heavy, but to compensate, they do seem to have equally large bottoms. :)

Dear Alan, i was made most welcome when i visited your village. :)

I sympathise with the residents of Venice. These cruise ships must be causing untold structural damage. I'd.be out on the docks protesting too if Imlived there. Why do tour companies and tourists think they have a god-given right to visit a place just because they haven't seen it? I'd wouldn't.t like to be on one of these ships when somebody pulled the plug out. In fact I wouldn't,t care to be on one of them anyway hemmed in with so many other fellow travellers. I ,like a bit of space when I'm on holiday!
