Thin tom stems

A couple of my Alicante toms (about 5" high) planted in the greenhouse bed have "sagged over" because the stems have gone thin, from about 2 inches above the soil down to the root. No apparent nibbling by slugs or ants or other damage. Similar plants next to them are OK.
I've dug one up and replanted in a pot with new compost to see if it recovers.
Any suggestions, please?.
