Filbert is growing fast into the oddest cat I've ever known. I've had cats who loved various strange food, but never vegetables.

He's scoffed down kidney beans, baked beans, garlic stuffed olives and boiled carrots, but is now becoming addicted to sprouts. Now I'll admit these sprout have been roasted with pancetta, so there is a bit of bacon flavour on the outside, but he's stealing them from the dish and eating the lot. The first time he just ate the one, last night he had three!

He loves food such as bolognese and chilli and suffers no side effects that we've noticed other than shocking garlic breath at times.

now, that is an odd one! I have childhood memories of my cats and jack russell eating left over spaghetti bolognese, very amusing!

I used to feed bolognese etc to my chickens until someone asked me if I fed them garlic. Apparently when the eggs were cracked open there was a faint but discernible whiff of garlic. Never had to worry about them having bad breath though.

Chantal, never mind the garlicky breath but I wouldn't want to be too near his rear end, though, when the sprouts have worked through him!

My cat Echo will have a try at anything - she's not been partial to sprouts though, but we don't have them much - purely grow them for Mum -in - law! Her mentality is 'if dogs eat them I will' Currently has a thing for chick peas Love them! & love your pics!

Dear Westi, i have now got this picture of your Mum-in-law, running round with a bone in her mouth.

Chantal re your comment about "garlic" breath, please bear in mind the fact that consuming onion, leeks or garlic can be harmful to cats as well as dogs.

There are other human foods that are harmful to cats, chocolate for example.

Blimey, better cut back on his spag bol and garlic stuffed olives!

He's shown no side effects at all from eating sprouts and he has a litter tray by the door which I put out for all them in this bad weather, but only he will use. Nothing off there and no farting!

Chantel They are all different - the glory of cats, each one gives you something unique! You were meant to have Filbert - enjoy & expand his diet obviously doing no harm! Just don't let him find the big white box (fridge) - when I open ours Echo tries to jump in any gap available!
So far haven't locked her in - but she is quite the athlete!

I've just caught Filbert munching on a raw chestnut mushroom. There were three on the top, only one remains so he could have already eaten a whole one. What is it with this kitten, mushrooms? I just hope they're not poisonous for him!

He's probably dreaming of chasing dogs, now.
