Does anyone know if leaf blowers are any good at removing snow? Perhaps they just faff all the snow around everywhere. Mine's electric so might not be too safe in snow - will have to stick with my trusty shovel.

Dear John
I had a go with ours at work during the week. It was fine on powdery stuff up to an inch or so but more than that and it struggled. Snow deeper that and I thought I was just wasting petrol. It didn't get rid of any footprints either. However it did mean that I had over 250 yards of path cleared and subsequently salted in just over an hour. Which saved a lot of sweating and a sore shoulder. I would not do this in confined spaces where there is a risk to pedestrians, windows and cars etc.
It might be useful for blowing snow off evergreens although I havent had to try that.
Regards Sally Wright.

Afternoon John, as Sally said, they will blow powdery snow ok, as long as it hasn't been compessed by walking or cars.
Another use i have found for them this year is, to blow any water off evergreen hedges, before i start cutting them. This might sound silly but it has saved me and the hedge cutter getting soaked a couple of times now.
And they are useful for blowing whitefly off any outdoor plants....
Just make sure the owner of the plants they get blown onto isn't a lot biigger than yourself.
Mine is a powerful petrol blower, by the way.
