I am glad you have asked that SM as I was going to post a question on the website. I want to know what potatoes people can recommend for thisyear as I need to order by the 31st Jan.

We want first and second earlies as we dont usually do main crop.

Why do you want to know about the nearest potato to a Wilja?

Hi Catherine,
May I suggest that you view the below and seriously consider growing their varieties this year.

Catherine. They are a good all round potato. Roast, chips, mashed, in the jacket. Just wanted to try something alongside them for comparison. You do not tend to see them in the supermarket. Probable the farmer does not get the tonnage to the acre.

Hi Shallot Man,
They do grow quite a few Wilja in this area and they are as you say a fairly good all rounder. The other one that is grown quite widely here abouts is Estima which again is an all rounder.
JB.

Went to pick up my seed potatoes yesterday,WILJA and a few PINK FIR APPLE [21 different varieties on show] all self select, ideal as I sow 13 in a row. This way you get no left-overs. My late old dad use to say, pick your tubers the size of a good sized chickens egg.
