I thought I had posted this question, but I coudn't find any reference to itso maybe I just meant to and didn't

Can anyone tell me how long you should leave soil between tomato planting? We grow lots of tomatoes but have limited space under cover.

I grow my indoor tomatoes in the same place every year, but I do try and take some of the old soil out and replace with some good new stuff.

Never had any problems and being doing this for over 15 years.

My "rotation" is basic and easy to remember: one side of the polytunnel one year, other side the next.

I do exactly the same as Chantal.

It always works fine.

I grow my tomatoes in border in front of a south facing fence. Half the border is devoted to climbing beans, the other half to tomatoes.

Every year I rotate their locations. I do ensure that home produced compost and bagged rotted manure is dug into the whole border and have never suffered any disease problems. Have been doing this for about 30 years now without problems as it's the best location in the garden for tomatoes

I was sooo hoping this was the answer. I am going to adopt Alans strategy of one side of tunnel one year, t'other side the next, with some of everyone else's policies thrown in, then all we need is some sunshine...
talking of which, that is what is happening today . Happy New Year everyone. X

I do the same as Alan does in his tunnel in my Greenhouse but use my own made-up grow bags in the tunnel and they simply grow where there is room so rotation doesn't matter.
