For those of you attending New Year's Eve parties (I shall be warmly tucked up in bed) do insist that all sing the full five verses of Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus.-For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne.
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye'll be your pint stowp!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll tak a cup o'kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine;
But we've wander'd mony a weary fit,
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn,
Frae morning sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

And there's a hand, my trusty fere!
And gie's a hand o' thine!
And we'll tak a right gude-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.
For auld, &c.

I hope to be soundly asleep by the time that kind of singing takes place!
I'm the world's best party pooper!

I must admit i don't stay up to see the New Year in anymore, i can celebrate it early next morning, which appeals to me much more. :)

But i can see why people do enjoy it so much, i wouldn't have missed the all night party for anything, years ago.

We're staying up tonight, but are staying in, watching a film and then Jools Holland.

As we've both been sick over Christmas we decided this would be our "Christmas Eve" - I may even have a drink!

I don't HATE it but I would prefer "The White Heather Club" on the T.V. with Robbie Hall & Jimmy McGregor, Kenneth McKellar and even "The Muckin' O" Geordie's Byre" sung by Andy Stewart. Compton McCenzie was a star.

This is from'the olden days' of course when Mam, Dad, me and if she could stay awake untill midnight and would stand on the front step of our council house to hear the church bells in the town "ring out the old year and ring in the new "

Memories. . . Cheers and a Gid New Year to one and all and 'lang may yer lum reek'.

. Tony.

This is the one song that makes me sob! Kinda don't like New Year because of it - but does make you remember!

To all a very productive 2013! Don't listen to the doom & gloom - it was a wild year but doesn't mean everyone from now on will be - Keep the faith! x
