Looking at all the posts the thing that has struck me in this particularly difficult year is the enormous differences in people experiences. A variety does very well in one garden in one part of the country and is a complete flop elsewhere. Almost certainly the weather accentuating small differences - rain at the wrong or right time, low/high temperatures, etc.

Agree - very weird weather had turned the predicted into surprises! I went from doom & gloom to thankful for what I have which is quite different from what I would normally expect - the veg just try to grow as is their nature, but not as per any books / experience says they should.

Absolutely agree. Think the most important thing this year has been to not give up hope, it's definitely been a challenge but the results have been worth the extra effort. I even managed parsnips at the fourth attempt!

Jude - you have done better than me - got 2 parsnips at home; all at lottie didn't germinate..they were all free samples - my feedback is on it's way to the company. Ditto for my swedes - poor germination again but got 1/2 dozen or so at home.
