Last midnight as I came in from a night of viewing the Stars I couldn't help noticing the slugs. I have a large lawn which used to be a field and the whole place was absolutely crawling with them. Never have I seen so many. It would need an army of hedgehogs, ducks and fowl to get rid of them. Small wonder the veg suffer so much. I have to keep topping up the slug-bait otherwise nothing survives.

Lawns are an ideal place for slugs at the moment because they're starting to become very moist with condensation overnight with the cooling temperatures. If you've got a large area, then I suppose it's impossible to do the late night patrols with a torch and a bucket of water.
