Grafted Aubergines

I've tried growing aubergines from seed several times with very little success. Very few flowers set, and those that did produced poor, small fruit.

This year I heard about grafted plants and decided to invest in two (Scorpio). I am pleased to report that they performed as advertised. They grew in spring in an unheated greenhouse despite the poor weather. Normal tomatoes and peppers were slow and/or lanky.

I've had several good aubergines from them with a few more coming.

Worth trying !

Regards

Alan

Whilst experimenting with grafting Tomatoes this year I also grafted one Aubergine Bonica. We have used 4 off this plant and there are 3 more coming. My other 6 plants on their own roots of various varieties have yielded 1 so far, also a Bonica. Well worth it, as you say. Will do more next year, haven't decided about Tomatoes yet.
