Why I don't grow onions

Apart from white rot and sooty mould, we are still visited annually by Sioni Winwns viewtopic.php?f=8&t=8788
This is a string of this year's crop of Rose de Roscoff hanging in the porch. Better than any I could grow. And he'll be back again at regular intervals until well into next year. The weather must have been good in northern Brittany.
