Dug a row of Charlotte potatoes today and they'd been touched by blight.
Most plants had an affected tuber, some had many, a few had none.
The worst affected tubers were like bags of custard with added rubber for stretchy sticky yellow slime in a paper bag.
The worst thing was

the smell.
Could be the worst thing I've smelt in a long time.

Know just what you mean Peter. I must have bagged up a couple by mistake when I dug my Foremost and the same thing happended to me.
Disgusting. A job for the week-end to check on the rest.

A couple of weeks ago I found a dead rat in the polytunnel. Rather than throw it out where the hens would have been at it, I buried it in a vacant bit of border, fairly shallow. A few days later I walked on the border, heard a crunch - then the stink
Certainly topped the smell of blighted potatoes
