Have my first crop of the above, when is the best time to start picking them.

Grasp an apple gently but firmly and lift it up. If it comes away from the branch easily then it's ripe and ready. If it doesn't want to leave the branch, slowly lower the fruit into the original position and try again in a few days.

I usually use Keeper's Nursery as a database for apple pollination, picking etc. They say pick in mid-October, use November to January.
