Hubby was home from work when I returned from looking at the allotments (none of them mine yet), with an armful of rhubarb!

I told him all about the plots, and that there was a very weedy one available but another chap may be taking it on, otherwise it COULD possibly be mine.

Hubby then got quite animated about using a rotivator on it. That kind of thing (machinery) appeals to his 'Man' nature!!

"We could rotivate it, that would do it"

We? We? What is this WE business?

Piglet6. Dominant Man has to have a subordinate under him, that's where the We comes in.

Just seed ideas gently, then tell him how wonderful he is when he expands on them piiglet

Seed the ideas, etc. I love it!! 'Tis very true though!

p.s. I have been advised not to put a rotivator anywhere near a 'weedy' plot, so it's out with the garden fork instead.

Oh, I laughed at that one! I'm the vegetable gardener in this house. Whenever we have visitors who admire the vegetable patch and all our crops growing in the borders it's all "Yes WE get pretty good crops from a relatively small area". But when the weeds start going berserk, it suddenly reverts to MY garden again.

Our veg patch started off as his garden and whenever I needed him for such unimportant things such as, let's see ..... urm...... oh yes, eating the meal I'd spent hours slaving over, or helping move something, or doing something in the house, then whatever he was doing at that moment took priority and I had to wait

Then 5 years ago, he got really busy at work and I was informed that I could now look after the veg patch, along with the house, a new baby, a demanding 3 year old and a stroppy 'whateva' teenager - oh jees, cheers hun, so thoughtful

Of course that didn't and still doesn't stop him trying to put his tuppence worth in. Little gems such as 'I know what I'm talking about (reminding me strongly of Daddy Pig from Peppa Pig )- you need to dig fertiliser into ALL the beds'!!! This said when I refused to enrich the beds in which next seasons carrots and parsnips would be growing

Oddly enough, though, I find that whatever I'm doing in the garden still isn't as important as whatever it is that he's doing and I often find myself hiding behind the bank of runner beans, or crouching behind the netted raised beds pretending that I haven't heard his calls for instant and immediate asistance

VPM, OMG!!!! Yes!! My Hubby does that thing of whatever he's doing is FAR more important than anything I'm doing.

After years of it, I'm afraid I just say that I'm happy to help him when I've finished doing what I'm doing. Funnily enough, most of the time he manages whatever it was by himself

Heavens, I don't call him Hubby to his face (although he knows I use this term on forums). No, it's just easier to call him that when on forums, as (a) it explains his relationship to me, and (b) you shouldn't give out too much personal info on't'interweb.

I'm quite sure he refers to me as The Wife when talking to work colleagues.

I could call him Mr Piglet if that is better??

I haven't got anything against men - I have one of my own. Mr P is physically stronger than me, and if he offers to help me dig (when the time comes) then I'm not going to say no.
