Once again North Lincs Council have decided to offer free swimming to all under 16's at all their Leisure Centres from Monday 23rd July 2012 until the end of August.

This year the free swimming applies not only to Casual Swim sessions but also to Funsplash sessions as well :D.

As I understand it, the council feel that they would rather offer the free swimming than run the risk of bored youngsters deciding to use the rivers, ponds and waterways that are found in our area, as playgrounds, and facing the dangers inherent in these places.

Details are on the North Lincs website but I thought I'd post this here so that any forum members in our region with under 16s or with under 16s coming to visit during the long holiday, will be able to utilise this freebie if they want :D, only paying for an adult to accompany the youngsters if necessary - again regulations about how many adults are needed per child are on the website but it's something like: 1 adult for EACH child under 4; 1 adult for two 5 - 7 year olds; and over 8's can be unaccompanied but I guess it helps if they can swim . Do double check on the North Lincs website - I searched 'North Lincs Swimming' and found the page.

My 2 little ones are very excited :D

Happy swimming

Dear VPM, now that is pleasing to read. Glad they have used their common sense on such an important thing as swimming.
Hopefully more councils will follow suit.......

Pleased to say that all leisure centres in Gwynedd offer free swimming for under sixteens every school holiday, including half-term holidays. Only under-8s need to be supervised and the supervisor also gets free entry.
