Framberry

Picked up a Framberry plant today. My natural curiosity got the better of me!

The selling point was it is 'a cross between a strawberry and a raspberry'. I take it the 'taste' is and not the actual plants that produce the fruits, as they both belong to a different genus. So, what is the origin of this variety, there seems to be some conflicting information on the web.

Are the fruit any good? Is it worth growing?

Any information gratefully received.

I see what you mean about conflicting info on the web. I couldn't make out what they had done to get this raspberry tasting strawberry either, so hope someone else can give some information about it.

These are still all Strawberries and it refers to the taste being different and many people have been experimenting with Strawberries for years I would expect these to be oddities that have been thrown up but become novelty plants but never the less very tasty I have no doubts.
I think that the Pineberry is to be marketed by Marks and Spencers either this year or maybe next year not quite sure which.
The plants seem to be mighty expensive.
My personal taste is for the 'strawberry taste of old' and anything new no longer appeals to me.
