Have seen old posts on this subject but wondered if anyone had any recent experience on using the horizontal type of compost tumblers. I seem to generate a lot of good compost from cold heaps but reintroducing weed seeds to fertile ground is a problem and I wondered if this was a solution? Also any pointers to where to get a reasonable cost version?Jane

Going back through other communications, the throng seem to think they are a waste of cash and space.

As you seem to have hit nirvana on the compost heap front, I would just start a new heap.

The upright baked bean tin rotating end over end type I found worse than useless.

The lid weighted its end down and being larger than the body it collected rain, which turned into liquinure with no practical means of decanting, this meant it usually got on me and it stank.
The compost product was either dried out or (more usually) a slimy stinking mess.

On its side a la oil barrel barbeque I've not tried but looks more practical.

Whilst attending a workshop with Charles Dowding a few years back, he showed us a couple of rotating ones he'd been trying, neither of which he considered worth continuing with.
