chillies

Daft question, sorry, but never grown them before, how do I know when they're ready to pick? Have one green Cayenne about 3 inches long but not very fat. Feels hollow-ish.

My cayennes last year went a beautiful dark red colour but you can pick them green. Depends on what you want really.

I agree with vegpatchmum. If you want green chillies, they're ready. If you want them red, they're ready when they turn red. With thin walled chillies like cayenne, if you plan to dry them you can leave them on the plant until they are really ripe and, if you are lucky with the weather (

) they will start drying in siitu !
