Sara, hi & welcome.

To enable our advice to be relevant could you give us some idea of;

How much space you have available.
Where it is, home or elsewhere.
Where it is in the world, roughly.
The surrounding environment, soil, shade, trees, wind etc.
How much time and effort you wish to devote to it.

Hi Sara,

The above link gives a plan of what you can achieve on a typical allotment site (especially if you buy your plants from them!) see link below

http://www.organicplants.co.uk

However, you could use the plan and subsitute any varieties you can buy or get given locally or scale it down if you don't have enough room or time!

Goodluck and you will soon be gripped by the gardening bug!
