Early Summer bits and bobs.

Despite the weather, June is summer, so here goes.

Busy weekend so far.
Friday mowing everything & setting the opposite top corner post for my scrap fence.
Saturday twelve mile dog walk.
Sunday rainy, so in the greenhouse, sowing a bit and potting up a lot.
Monday tidied around greenhouse and bottom half of garden, as the hazel shielding the greenhouse from the park was creating Nazi plants due to shading out the first northern five feet. Useful set of bean poles and peasticks. Sowed more ouside, pricked out lots of lettuces, planted five tomatoes in the greenhouse from "free to a good home" shelf at allotments.

Tuesday, depends on the weather, but I've run out of seedably cultivated ground. Golfball lump area, mostly clay needs to be attacked.

I thought I was bad posting after a few drinks on my WHU forum.

The rain is causing rather a problem here, i was really hoping to catch up on the allotments this weekend, "even wrote a list of jobs, that is most unlike me", but the rain has put pay to that.

This week is looking quite grim too, so looks as if i need to come up with a cunning plan of some sort. :)

Bet it's nice and dry in Donediggings new shed.... :)

I have so much to do on lottie and have the week off but unfortunately didn't choose this week it was just left, so potentially the only good weather day of the week (Today!) and I had to join in the family festivities.
Currently have about 20 kids & young people having an egg & spoon race in the close. The seagulls will be very happy with the spills!

There's an amazing orange moon tonight....just rising as I look out across the Wash.

I see the damp is really coming up on the Strawberry leaves....looks like its going to be a cold one tonight.

...and whilst I was down the garden just now a Barn Owl passed by a few feet away along the field margin. :)

Managed to dig some very sickly overwintered sweetwilliams in, then planted with late sown, early potatoes. :)

Also planted some pumpkins and cucumbers out over the allotments.
And also planted 20 First in the field Tomato plants out, i love the way this variety always seems to make lovely stout, strong plants, just what you need in these unsettled weather conditions. :)

We spent all morning cutting back some very vigorous ivy which covers most of the garage at home - couldn't do it until the blackbirds left their nest!

And then tackled all the tiny weed seedlings on the home vegetable patch which seem to have sprung up overnight after the rain and sunshine. The greenhouse is almost empty of vegetable seedlings now, only the marrows, courgettes and a few French beans left, as well as tomatoes in growbags, of course, and sweet basil and lots of fuchsias.

Up late, then conceded defeat to the rain and went to cinema with daughter to see Snow White & the Huntsman. :D

Bit of an overcast day here....after yesterdays sunshine, blue sky and a Spitfire...twice. :)
I got a few jobs done at work this morning...pink Gaura and the Rudbeckias planted out and I got some Arran Pilot Potates hilled...bit awkward as they had got a bit tall. I gave the Sweet Peas a loop of string each to help them on their way upwards.

Back home I did a bit more to the fruit cage. Sewing on the net with sack needle and garden twine....following carefully my late fathers design and construction...and with his handwriting on the nets labels.

A couple of Tiger Cross Marrows planted out and a square of 12 Tasty Gold Sweetcorn too...Kings seeds and the best germination ever of sweetcorn...every one a winner. :)

A few spots of rain appeared at lunchtime....but on return from greenhouse closing at work tonight...its pouring down....so plan for a weed and loosen of Carrot fleece waits for another day.

Clive.

Done no gardening for days, due to pouring rain and/or being at work :(

Lots more rain forecast :(

Another chicken died yesterday :(

But I have some pretty silk with which I am going to make a summer dress in time for the sunshine which will be coming soon (maybe)

And my father is coming to stay for a few days - without my stepmother. Some father/daughter time coming up :D

Dear Pongeroon, bet we would all like to see the summer dress when made! :)
Hope you have a great time with your Dad.

I work for a lady today who makes most of her own clothes, very clever indeed.
