Added to that, I am waiting for a site to become available at the allotments nearest to me (less than quarter of a mile from my house!!!), rather than have to put tools into the car and drive to either of the other 2 sites in town. I am happy to reach the top of the list and allow others to leapfrog over me until my preferred site is available.
Anyway, after pretty much 2 years I decided to phone and see if I had moved at all. Managed to get hold of someone (well, their answer-phone). They then rang back the next evening and left me a message (I was in the garden and missed the call). Apparently I am now number 3 on the list!!!! I could hardly believe it! NUMBER THREE!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried ringing the chap back but he doesn't seem to answer the phone, so I will leave a msg tonight and glue the phone to my side for the whole evening. He said there was a little 'but', which is that at the site I want to go to, the council are pulling 8 plots away (presumably to be used as new cemetary ground, which is next door). So, I'm presuming that those 8 plot-holders will need to have new plots found for them, and am expecting them to be at the very top of the list. Does that sound right to you? Therefore I would be number 11.
Moving up 62 places on the list in 22 months, another 11 will be a doddle. Then a little bit of being leap-frogged.
OMG, I'm SOOOOO nearly there!! I'm thinking that as a Newbie (with Allotmenting Parentage, and a hubby who will probably get so bored and inquisitive without me he'll end up helping just a little bit), I'll do my best for a full 12 months then review how I've done. I don't want to be laughed at
If you're still awake, thanks for reading
