How much do you pay for Growmore?
Been going round the diy websites and it seems to have gone up even more than I expected. They didn't have their usual 25Kg bags at the garden centre when I did my January sale shop. I've only beaten £1 Kg on one site and that says "while stocks last" and they haven't replied to an enquiry. I've also been trying to find out if any local societies have buying groups but no luck there so far either.

Hi Geoff,
Kays own growmore is £13.95 for 25 kg.
They also have 16:16:16 fertilizer at £19.95 for 25kg. As this is approx twice the strength of Growmore (7:7:7) you would of course use half the amount.

Hope this is some help.
Regards, Gerry.

Thanks for that, you made me look again. They came up on Google but I didn't read their website properly the first time and only found the liquid fertilizers. They look competitive if I spend enough to spread the shipping.

I was looking at that but the website doesn't mention a shop. Mind you just put it in a route planner and it comes out at 84 miles each way so unless I combine it with a day out in the Lakes I doubt it is economic.
I get Growmore from the local farmstores ('Countrywide') in large bags (20kg?). It has been a couple of years since I last bought a bag so I can't remember the price except that it was a lot cheaper than any garden centre stuff. They do sell other fertilizers and sometimes have good deals on around bank holiday times. Garden centres are always top price for everything and have you noticed that wherever you go they are all charging the same.
I've always found it a lot cheaper to buy in large bags than by the kilo but it does depends how much you intend to use.
I use less and less now though as my comfrey beds are quite productive.

Called in at farm suppliers today, no sign of Growmore so I asked. The till said it was £7.38 / 25Kg (about ½ previous best I've found) but there was no stock. It will be interesting to see what the price is when they have stock, I'll be passing that way again on 6th March so we'll see!

Blimey Geoff, that was a surprise about Kays. I was going to order something from them today - glad I didn't now.
I've used them for years and always found them good value. Perhaps too good value to make a profit.

Thanks for this info Geoff,
I was wondering why I didn't receive the latest catalogue
Its about this time I usually place an order with them. It is sad news really
as they were a good company to deal with.
Regards
Kevin

For anybody who was a fan of Kays Horticulture.
I bought something off eBay today but when I completed the transaction the details included:
Seller information: Yellowbirdcards.com Ltd
Nigel Kay
Seabreeze lodge
Nethertown
Egremont , Cumbria Ca22 2UH UK
It lists as swiftbuys234 and some of the other stuff looks interesting.
I have nothing to do with the business, just thought it looked interesting.
