The Bumble Bee Conservation Trust has a new web site too with a huge list of flowers bees like. If you have enough space it is quite easy to have something flowering all year round so there is always food for them when they are active. The main problem this year is that it has been too cold and wet for them to come out, although the bumble bees have been out in quite bad weather when nothing else has been flying.
The little of colony of tree bumble bees in my blue tit nest box have been so busy this week that they have completely filled the box with honey comb and there is only a tiny space at the top to getin and out.
Their favourite flower this week is the Ceanothus which looks an absolutely glorious sea of blue and is covered in bees of all kinds.
