Afternoon all,

I have pricked out my tom plants into new compost about 3 weeks ago. But the leaves have started to turn yellow apart from the veins. I am sure this is due to a lack of nutrients. Could you suggest what would be the best to feed them. Untill I can plant them up into my usual compost?

What compost have you used?

...and what temperature are you keeping them at?

What you describe sounds like magnesium deficiency, usually affecting older plants. How old are yours?

Sounds to me that the temperatures are too low. In Yorkshire they would say the plants looked "starved" which doesn't mean starved of nutrients but cold like a shivering little waif!

Morning all

The compost is Jamie Oliver fruit and vegitable planter bought from homebase (got some vouchers for xmas). I usually use Levingtons grow bag and have never had any probs. They were sown on 17/2 and transplanted on 18/3. They now have 5 sets of true leaves.

What you say about the cold may be true because the temp here has been yoyoing all the time. I usually put them out into an unheated front poarch for the day and bring them back into the livingroom overnight.

Just an update on the toms. Definatly just too cold. I took them back into the warmth and they have perked up no end. They are ready now to be planted up into their final pots.
