We have just spent a beautiful day at our allotment. I have sown lots of seeds for the polytunnel. I bought a pack of growing lettuce from Morrisons for £1 I am going to separate these from each other and plant them in the polytunnel to grow on for early lettuce.

Tomorrow beacuse it has been so dry for the past two weeks we are going to put the tiller through each bed. We have already spread our manure through the beds which need it.

It's been a glorious day here, with lots of activity over our allotments too.
I can't ever remember the soil being so nice for seed sowing at this time of the year. It's a real plesure to be working the soil.

Hello OH thank you. I have to admit I have not had time to look or post here for some time. It is nice to be back though. I miss it. I am very cautious about planting when it is so warm and dry as worry about the frost. I am wondering if I can plant our first earlies next week?

Dear Catherine, i think planting anything that is slightly tender when it comes through while there is a risk of frost, is a bit daring.

But i still take a chance, and i'm ready to cover things at night, but i do live close to the allotments, so that's a real bonus.

We're having beautiful sunny days here now the thick morning fog has gone, but the past few nights have had a keen frost, so I'm waiting a bit for the soil to warm up more before I sow anything direct. Although, if I sow in the afternoon and then cover things with fleece that should keep a bit of warmth in.

It is very tempting isn't it?
