It was a bit of a surprise to find a strawberry perfectly ripe today. I thought it was a fluke as it was on an escaped plant that found it's way into the raspberry plot, however when I checked the bed, which I had tidied and trimmed, growing madly again & also with some fruit & lots of flowers.
The question is do I fleece these & try to get a 2nd crop or trim & tidy them again? They are in their 2nd year so not old plants & the majority of fruit on them is already turning pink, with some nearly ready. The fruit is a good size as well.
