I'm lucky to have a neighbour over the back fence who's a retired nurseryman and his back garden, far from being a pristine plot, is a delightful hodgepodge of birds, animals, flowers and the pony carts he builds for a hobby. Everything he puts in there seems to co-exist happily - a Doberman, two daschunds, umpteen cage birds, a rabbit, guinea pigs and a single chicken he found wandering on the road last year. The chicken has now taken over the Doberman's basket, feeding on the bits of dog biscuit in there, and won't let the dog back in it!

They do say the scruffiest car in the road always belongs to the car mechanic.
Cheers, Tony.

He does sound a wonderful sort of a character, John, just a shame there's not more about like him.
Our village used to be full of them, now there's just the odd one.
