Only a couple of posts, I can't think of anything to say either! Weather dismal here. No incentive to go to the plot even if I had had time. :(

Morning Jude, you are quite right, it was quiet on here yesterday, so here's hoping for a few more postings today.... :)

Too cold to go in the greenhouse.....soil in the garden still frozen.....had to go to the garden centre to cheer myself up and bought a bargain bag of mixed dahlias...at least I can look at the pictures for a day or two before attempting to plant them up in pots in the conservatory.

Cat has just eaten a bit of geranium leaf and been sick!.

That's about as exciting as my day has been so far. :(

It's 1 degree.....and falling.

At Royal Holloway college of London University, where son is being interviewed about studying for a physics degree from September. Too cold to wander round & admire the founders building.

Hope your son gets into Royal Holloway, Peter! We have both been out of the University world for more than 20 years now, so can't vouch for RH's academic quality now, but my OH says the buildings are amazing.

Yes, I noticed yesterday's dearth of messages - must be the weather.

Not my words but I've just received an email from Suttons with this verse on it. Makes putting up with this cold spell all worth while.

He knows no winter, he who loves the soil,
For, stormy days, when he is free from toil,
He plans his summer crops, selects his seeds
From bright-paged catalogues for garden needs.
When looking out upon frost-silvered fields,
He visualizes autumn's golden yields;
He sees in snow and sleet and icy rain
Precious moisture for his early grain;
He hears spring-heralds in the storm's turmoil
He knows no winter, he who loves the soil."
- Sudie Stuart Hager, He Knows No Winter

Beryl.

I was busy bidding on some strawberry spinach seeds....which I won

I was going to start a thread on this, but when I put it into search, it had already been discussed

Lovely poem Beryl, I suppose that's what I've been doing going through my seed boxes and catalogues, but not quite so poetically.
