christmas tomatoes

Well, I never thought that I would still be eating my home-grown tomatoes at Christmas, but it's happened!!!
Not straight from the garden, I admit. I lifted the plants a while ago when the weather looked set to turn and blight was starting to take more of a hold- maybe about 6 weeks ago, though I'm not certain. I stored the green tomatoes in boxes out in the shed. Since then I have been taking out the nearly ripe ones every week and putting them by the window to finish ripening.
Anyway, I have just sorted out another batch that we will enjoy in a family meal tomorrow. Sadly, they will be the last - the ones left in the boxes were past their best and have now been consigned to the bin, but it has been wonderful to eat our own fresh tomatoes for 6 whole months!
