Read Medwyns article on shallots in Decembers issue of KG page 43, I have been growing shallots for more years than I care to remember, but I have never heard of cutting shallots in half to get fewer shallot clumps. Still we are forever on the learning curve. I wondered if one dusted the cut sides with Green Sulphur !

Unless you want them a particular size for showing I can't see much point - I like lots of smallish ones from each one I plant. I use onions if I want something larger.
