I know they always say "Buy the biggest greenhouse you can afford and even then it will turn out too small!"

I wonder if that will equally apply to this proposed structure: 100 hectares in area and seven metres high?

I'm always amazed that these enormous structures don't simply collapse when they're buffeted by the first autumn gales. Some pretty clever structural engineering must go into their design so that they can withstand the worst of the weather.

One of our sons worked for a Dutch firm a few years ago, erecting huge greenhouses in France. Quite a precarious business putting up these monsters, I believe. Yes, I don't think I would like to stand in one when a gale is raging outside!

Washing the glass is quite an undertaking too.
