An Indian summer would be lovely, OH, lets avoid the snow ploughs this year.

Now you've done it, OH!
Believe you me, we've seen the last of the summer now.
It's been autumn here for most of August, cool, misty and wet. In the days before clocks and calendars August was considered the start of autumn. Still shows in the Welsh names for the months:
July is Gorffennaf (from gorffen - end : haf - summer)
August is Awst (a name borrowed from the Romans)
September is Medi (which means harvesting)

Raining here today, the fruit on the vine under glass is ripe and delicious, but we need some sun to ripen the outdoor grapes. I hope it improves for your holiday Gallotments.

I'm on here as it is persistently raining. Put the trays of drying Shallots out twice but gave up in the end and left them in the garage. Did manage to sow a cloche full of all sorts of salad - definitely cool enough for Lettuce to germinate.

Heavy rain all night and all day so far - you can almost see everything growing as it soaks in. Lovely

Still raining heavily here, quite enjoyed potting up polyanthus plants inside the greenhouse today.

Rained all last night, but I was able to spend the morning on the plot.
Then it rained for a short while again this afternoon, but some blue sky showing at the moment

It rained a bit here today but nothing very dramatic. I feel a real heel when I say to people (particularly those on holiday!), 'I wish we could get some prolonged downpours, because we still need the rain'. Everybody seem to want sunshine!
Had a some good news yesterday, nothing to do with weather: No.5 grandchild received some great GCSE results - 11 A grades, including 2 A*. Now looking forward to the sixth form.
