Hi all, back again after a couple of weeks of Florida Sun

Really useful photos Clive. I have been wondering about the strenght of my pea supports, now I have ideas.
Plenty to get on with now, just need to get over the jet lag and get sowing!

Carefull with that jet lag.......
The tall Peas have posts supporting 4ft high 2" galvanised wire mesh netting on one side with a few canes along the row pushed through the wire net and hopefully tall enough Ash sticks on the other side of the row....likewise with the shorter Early Onwards....but 3ft wire mesh and a collection of shorter Ash sticks....not sure my blue string tieing looks very glamourous...I am no Boy Scout......
Broad Beans, to left of photo, historically have posts at each end of row and more down the row with surround of baler string at a low level and repeated higher once they have grown some..
Did you know that 2 spools of baler twine will give you 22300ft of string to play with.......

Blimey! That's more than two and a half miles a spool!
Now to think of some games to play with it

A very long string and tin-can telephone, very handy when you tell your wife her bottom does look big in that skirt.

The reason for my knowledge of string length....if indeed I have remembered it correctly was as a result of my need to give a speech the other week at my work colleagues leaving do....
Not one of my best subjects the making of speeches.
....so I came up with an idea of a short piece of nonsense on the types of string used within the gardens over my colleagues 34 years working there......and then asked the question...just how many miles of string would he have used over all those years.??...there being 250 metres on a large ball of jute twine....and so on....
Our use of baler twine is a little frowned on so I explained that of course we did not use it...but did use a product that we refer to as "Stronga String". .... I ended with the fact that there is a link to my spoken string nonsense...and thanked my colleague for his work holding the garden team together over all those years....in fact picking up on a comment he made himself the week before..."it has all held together very well" he had said...must have been all them miles of string.. .
The cake for the event featured a gardener looking in despair at the state of his lawn covered in Mole hills...complete with Mole appearing from the turf clutching a white flag....I am told it was to have been a Badger and holes in the lawn....but in the marzipan manipulating the Badger morphed into a Mole....and it was also easier to fashion Mole hills too.......

Morning Clive, the master of ceremonies, and a fine cake indeed.
Great excitment, starting another new garden this morning, to add to my list of others.
Well actually, it's for the same lady but this will be her fourth move in six years, and i have worked in all of the gardens. All of them have been totally overgrown when i start, so it's always a challenge.
I love Mondays.
