Thanks for your concern. We were threatened with torrential rain and gusts up to 80mph. In the event it started raining about 3 o'clock, not heavy, a bit of a breeze got up and I got rather wet putting the hens and ducks to bed. Of course, as soon as I'd changed my wet trousers the rain almost stopped. By half past seven the sky was starry and there was hardly a breath of wind. And it's still like that now.

That's the sort of wrong forecast I can live with

Sounds as if we had it a lot worse than you then, we had gusts of up to about 50mph which lasted for about six hours.

Hope Old Codgers new chicken house he has built himself, has come through with no damage.

We were visiting my wife's family in Shropshire yesterday and a lovely sunny lunchtime turned into torrential rain and wind in the evening. Driving back we were help up for 15 minutes just before where we join the motorway at Stoke by police and contractors clearing a fallen tree. We were dreading the M6 but although there was spray it was a lot better when we got there and as we got further North it improved, which was a surprise. Some hail overnight but not as bad as expected. Not sure about the walk on Morecambe promenade planned when we visit friends this afternoon though.

Well i've jut been an done a structural survey on Old Codgers hen house, and it has come through with flying colours.

Although i did have to capture my nephews three new hens that had managed to escape, what has happened to the day they used to crouch down when you got near them.

Dear Geoff, the walk on Morecambe promenade sounds as if it would be quite exhilarating, you must brave it and report back.

I hadn't given up but hadn't commented either as my BT landline (and thus my broadband) is very out of order right now. Broadband intermittent and landline on divert to my mobile since Tuesday I'm on a promise for it being fixed tomorrow, but if I'm really quiet for the rest of the weekend, you all know why, I'm cut off again.

I think I'll spend some time this afternoon doing the Telegraph crosswords to get some practice in, but for now I think I may just go to the lottie, it looks glorious out there!

We have survived the night, just south of Dartmoor here!
It was a very blustery night, strong winds, rain and hail. Most of it came from the South West though, so for us that is a little better than from the North.

My Changeable weather meant that at 05.30 this morning it was absolutely p-----g down and by 06.30 everywhere was covered with ice.
I think this is why winter planted Garlic fails here. It simply dislikes the constant rain and ice conditions.

I thought it was Skegness that was bracing! It was quite pleasant though with the tide almost in so the waders were near the shore. Must learn the various brown waders sometime but there were loads of Oyster Catchers with Sheld Duck, Curlew, various Gulls as well as the little waders.

I must admit, i'm he worlds worse when it comes to sea birds names.

It's not very pleasant out there this morning, absolutely tipping it down with a strong wind.

Well, if it's meant to be Blue Monday, i have to say i'm feeling rather jolly this morning.
