Bright and sunny here today, but that east wind has got a bit fierce again.

Spent the morning sorting out one of the sheds. No matter how much room you have, it's never enough is it

Very pleased now, just completed the last of the Winter digging, at last.
We also have the bitter wnid from the East, certainly stops one from standing about too much.

Found two dead hedgehogs in their Winter quarters, what is a shame. They didn't look very big, so i take it they hibernated well under weight to get them through the Winter months. Also found a half grown rabbit frozen to death under a plastic sheet.

OH that is very sad. It just goes to show the little tragedies of nature which happen almost under our noses without us being aware of them. Wildlife has had a really tough winter trying to survive and even now when we should be seeing warmer conditions, nothing much seems to be happening/

I'm glad there are some instances, like feeding the birds regularly, which can make a difference between life and death for them, but for others there is sadly no such sustence and support. I take the view that if we take pleasure in watching and enjoying wildlife, we have to ry and make life easier for them. After all, they don't have a Sainsbury's just down the road to help them out in difficult times, do they?

Enough sunshine today to get out and put a coat of preservative on new back garden fence. Should be dry by dusk. Can now get on with digging manure into the border alongside it and set up my tomato & climbing bean poles in front of it. Always feels good when another action box gets ticked

We've had several says of lovely sunshine and temps as high as 8 degrees during the day. Thought there had been a hard frost this morning but when I went outside, I realised it was actually a thin layer of snow

Lovely and relatively warm outside again though.

Got a delivery of seeds from 'The Real Seed Catalogue' this morning and am half way through sowing them. Very relaxing

Sowed some summer cabbages Primo today, also calabrese Marathon, summer purple sprouting broccoli and kohlrabi Violetta, all in root trainers in the greenhouse. Also pruned the buddleias at home today, keeping some cuttings for pea sticks.

The forecast for tomorrow is another sunny day, albeit with cold wind, so I might cut all the huge buddleias on the allotment.

And, the weather chap said today that next week the weather might warm up a bit, probably ....

Was sunny but cold at lottie today! The Robin & I had a great time sorting strawberry bed & raspberries - all weeded & mulched ready for a beautiful summer!

My globe artichokes have made it through the winter & looking healthy but they are right beside the hedge row, & Plum Beauty has kept it's blossom - maybe I'll taste my 2nd one this year!

I was thinking as I pricked out / potted on Tomatoes this morning, isn't it a good job we don't have to go through that stage. I was kept in hospital until I reached 5 lbs, guess I wouldn't have made it to a bigger pot!

I was barrowing manure all morning, which is just the job for a cold windy day

I was tidying the garden at the holiday cottage this morning, so pleased it's got forest on 3 sides... makes all the difference to cutting out the wind. I actually undid my coat. If this keeps up I'll have to take off the brown paper and goose fat

Dropped down to the plot to pass on a gardening book. One of the plotholders was putting up a greenhouse. Seen warmer polar bears.

It's been consistently 8 degrees, not including wind chill, for a few days now and so yesterday my OH in his wisdom, promised the girls a lovely walk along and play on Cleethorpes beach this morning. I can only hope the tide is in

That'll be a bit parky VPM! I'd enjoy your 8 degrees though, been around 2-3 degrees here for days but we've been promised the dizzying heights of 4-6 today.
I'm taking my parents out to a garden centre to get their seeds etc today so could have done with it a bit warmer. They're 89 and 91 and still do tomoatoes in the greenhouse and runners, frenchies, carrots and spring onions in a little patch outside. My brother built them raised walls on which they put troughs for the carrots, dwarf french beans and spring onions.
