Done 5 hours at the Big House today, then gave up as heavyish rain, then constant heavy drizzle….amazing how wet you get when it’s like that!
So come home and lit the fire….

I did a few minutes digging in the back garden...in my usual try to get vegetable area back from its late season lost state but the heavy drizzle started so I retreated....
I then had great plans to tidy the front room ....but that remains mostly only a plan.! Although I did shell the pea and broad bean seed yesterday so the front rooms a bit tidier.!!

A bit of a strange question but, what exactly is “white fish” that is sold with all the other named types of fish?

It is likely Pollock or Whiting. In warmer climates Whiting is lush but small, but it adapts to cooler temps as well but looses it sweetness & used to be thrown back & then they got bigger so worth trying to sell by the fishermen. Pollock is just huge & a member of the cod family but when raw flesh is darker. Cooked is white but not as sweet or moist but a decent fishmonger can get a few prepped & ready very quickly for the end market pie makers & the like! The rest unfortunately are likely imported from Vietnamese fish farms.

I like pollock we used to get a lot when fishing over rocks in Ireland the reason it’s not available on more fish counters is it’s not easily trawled due to its environment,I’ve had a bad day today due to my dentist breaking a tooth off just below my gums that was 3 months ago I’ve been waiting for an appointment to see the specialist only to be told there’s 1200 on the waiting list before me so I’d no alternative but to go private an appointment for a check up this morning 75 gone to be told to come back at 4-30 to see the man himself
another £330 but he did it I was over an hour lying nearly flat with my mouth open for well over an hour now the stitches are coming loose

Was I right about no calendar or did it come early and I've forgotten / mislaid it?

Absolutely chucking it down again here, so rained off work, before I even start….very frustrating.

Regarding the white fish, very interesting….I would have thought they still would have to put on the packet what type of fish it actually was… but supermarkets just seem to get away with what ever they can….
