I only have some over wintering onion sets in the ground outside, everything else has been harvested, the sets look ok and are growing.

I've been down to our plot this morning as usual only to find the shed door swinging back and forward ,the padlock was on the floor cut in half with a pair of bolt crops lying at the side , the vermin have been out to play again , I don't think anything has been taken I'm thinking the cheap alarm I fitted on the inside of the door must have come to life and scared the scrotes away, I'm now the owner of a pair of bolt crops but I think I know who they belong too what I can't understand is someone leaving them on an allotment were scrotes can get their hands on them and use them to access sheds

Glad to hear that nothing was taken...what a horrible thing to happen. Sounds like the alarm did a good job.

Found a young bloke asleep in my Mum's shed early yesterday morning....scared the living daylights out of him!
He was full of apologies and said he was homeless and was just passing through....so done him a hot drink and some toast, he was very grateful, then was on his way. It's a tough old world out there for some.

That was a kind gesture OH. There are some sad stories of family breakdowns behind some of these youngsters sleeping rough.
However with that kind of response there's a possible risk he may return if he's cold and hungry and can't find anywhere else to sleep.
Perhaps a good idea to check out if there are any homeless shelters in your area in whose direction you could point him in case he remembers the location and comes back.

Dear Primrose, a little more of the story has emerged. He ended up sitting outside the local pub at lunchtime and they took him in and gave him lunch and a drink, then paid for a taxi to take him to the homeless refuge at Milton Keynes. But I happen to know someone that does some voluntary work there, so asked her if they had any one new there yesterday afternoon, but they hadn't......

I had someone in the shed for a bit. I've no lock on my shed as the scum here just rip the doors off if you do, so just some plastic coated wire through the rasp. My shed was secured every time I went down but there was a scruffy old lambswool gillet thing in there in different spots. I left teabags, biscuits, crisps & longlife milk which were used but I never met the occupant. I just think by my little gesture he knows it is safe to come back if ever down here & needs a place of safety.

If this was a homeless person he broke the locks on around ten sheds before picking the one to spend the night in , I think he may have eaten the daughters porridge as well as breaking a chair

I think your person was just breaking in for personal gain, Robo, to which he would have received a very different responce from me....
