Dear Jopsy, it,s been lovely here all day, are you sure it was just Lily that was stamping in the puddles.

We have had a funny week weatherwise. Lovely sunshine Wednesday followed by snow Thursday, slush and rain Friday, rain, rain and more rain Saturday and finally a nice day today. My pond is full of amorous frogs so I hope it stays mild now for a bit.

Hope all of you in the north are OK in the snow.

Lovely day here too. Sowed spinach, spring onions, cabbage, parsley, calendula and cornflowers. Did a bit of clearing up too and took another photo of an unidentified plant that I'm not sure whether to pull up or not. I think I might embarrass myself with this one though as I've a feeling it's just a funny looking buttercup.
What is it with hardy geraniums? I grew some from seed about five years ago, decided I didn't like them and since then they've been one of the worst weeds in my garden. I swear blind I never let them seed, yet they pop up without fail year after year. They're driving me mad I tell you, MAD!

Spent what will probably be the last full day constructing and repairing the greenhouse, now re-named phoenix for obvious reasons, hopefully next weekend should be able to build a bed for the tomatoes in there and sew some seeds in trays!!

I'll post some pics when I got a minute!!

Dear Compo, i bet that really is a nice feeling knowing that you are nearly there, i don't think theres a lot nicer thing than working in a greenhouse this time of the year.
Seed sowing really is a special time, that anticipation of things to come is great.

Jenny, where are you sowing all your seeds - heated greenhopuse, unheated, outside? I haven't sowed anything yet and am beginning to wonder if I'm leaving things a bit late. It's my first February year with a greenhouse - I got mine in April last year, and I'm wary of starting things off too early.

Hi Granny.
They're all being sown in the greenhouse. The spring onions and spinach are in the greenhouse border, while the rest are in pots. I also have peas sown in seed trays. It's a cold greenhouse, though it has a special covering which keeps it a little warmer than glass.

That's given me the impetus to get going myself. I could always drape a bit of fleece over if it gets really cold.

You're welcome Granny.
The things I've sown are hardy so shouldn't be too bothered by the cold. The main danger is that it'll be cold and damp enough for them to rot off.

Provided OH has a scanner the Box Brownie will be fine.... a litle slow perhaps.

I haven't planted a thing yet. Normally have to leave it till mid April as I can't plant anything out until May, depending on how my thick clay soil has warmed up.

I love seed sowing and potting on. A time full of anticipation but i've learned to my cost that, if sown too soon, my stuff just rots off and I get all sad then

Lizzie, i think i'm going to stay living where i am, if the weather is that bad up your way.
I've got seedlings popping up everywhere in the greenhouse.
