crap, just found a bottom split in my baby.im gutted she looked good for another 2 weeks at least.i'll cut her on monday and take her to the local abattoir to be weighed.probaly the best ive had so far,but there's always next year.good luck everyone.peter
Apologies peter, my pumpkin seeds ( i planted 2) did not do well, they put on masses of growth, foliage and male flowers, but i only ever saw 3 females, 2 of these rotted and dropped off, the other grew to about football size then it went all mushy underneath. I don't think i did anything wrong? I even had my brother in law take a look (he is Roman Abrovamich's head gardener) and he couldnt work it out as they looked very healthy plants, my other pumpkins and squashes are fine, i had a big "Rouge vif d'etampes" not measured it yet as i only picked it yesterday, but it filled over half the wheelbarrow and lots of the usual crown prince, blue banana etc. Anyway, i kept some of your seed back and will try again next year. Sorry not to have let you know how i was getting on, I was too ashamed of my failure

no probs mandy
if the plant growth was ok, it had to have something to do with where the fruit was actually growing.sounds like a drainage problem around the fruit
well, the world record has been broken by ron wallace of rhode island north america,he's weighed in with a monster of 1502lbs.this beats larry checkons previous record of 1459lbs
.there's still a few more weigh off results to come yet.i'll keep updates on here.

- Been thanked: 1 time
I picked mine at the weekend; it's been estimated at between 5-6 stones which isn't massive but it took two of us to shift it and it filled the wheelbarrow.
My sister now has it as she's going to make lots of pumpkin soup for her restaurant.
Thanks Peter.
