Have just lowered the launch ramp by the front door...so that I can take my mum for a wheel round the home grounds....I hope it all passes muster.

Is it a glasshouse or greenhouse.?

Funny you should say that: when one of our grandsons was small and I took him into the greenhouse, he said, "Gran, this isn't green, so why do you call this a greenhouse?"

Maybe you should have a Winter returns thread OH? I can't believe I am going into the 2nd week of May in the tropical end of England with 1c min showing! And that's home not lottie! Gonna be a mish-mash of cover for crops that are in, but runners, corn & squash have been held back as luckily get a 2 week forecast nowadays!

Lowest in the glasshouse was 10.7C...can see the tomatoes enjoyed that with some lovely new furry growth at the centres after a testing day of sunshine yesterday... I had been keeping the compost on the dry side, with the cold nights, they having taken the move from tiny pots to a big planting ring. I'd been supplying water via troweling a hole at the side to keep it damp under them but keeping it dry on the top..last night on seeing a warmer night I treated them to a better drink.. I just hope they don't get too used to all night partying.... ;)

Been working at the big house this morning, and re-cut the edge of the lawn around the lond shrub border...a simple job but, what a difference it makes.
Better go and check the glasshouses now, to see what needs watering...

A wee bit warm on the plot today but got done what needed doing. I found some summer brassica plants at the lottie shop - the very last that was moved out of the cages to fit all the tomatoes, flowers & coming winter stuff, but tucked away in the grow shed & kept watered & mine! 12 Greyhound & 6 of an unknown variety of Calabrese! Not club root resistant but hey I'm smiling! Found some "Silent Roar", (a pellet feed dipped in lion dung) with a shed quick tidy so that is down to dissuade the mice & rats so with any luck, I might just be fighting the weather not the critters for a bit! Before you ask, that is just the type of gift I get! It didn't smell at least so another bonus!

Weird to think I will have my woolly hat & coat on when next down on Sunday!

Baking hot today! Left it until late to do the watering. If the weather for Sun/Mon/Turs is as forecast it will be a shock to the plants as well as gardeners.

Having fun keeping all my containers sufficiently watered! On a different note .....I have found some cobra beans for 99p for 70 seeds and 80p postage.....growseed.co.uk not a vast selection, but they have stock.

You choice of the heading "End of spring bits and bobs" may just be right, OH. By tomorrow, we seem to be back to winter. And still not a drop of rain.

Fortunately the cold has slowed it's progress down to here! I ventured into the greenhouse to find the green windbreak leftover from the lottie fences. It, along with the spiders were fine, so that is coming down tomorrow to protect the main crop spuds. Minimum phone temp has gone up from 1c to 2c but still means a frost on the plot - there could be losses, but held back some precious things like runners & squash who appear to be moaning at me to plant them, but they will be grateful I didn't! (No not them obvs me)! :)
