If the water goes down the plug hole clockwise, then there's a chance of migratory fish, in years gone by there would have been Eels, but they are now seriously endangered, I wouldn't eat one nowadays.

I thought it was elvers that ran up a river and eels that ran down

I wonder what the tree/timber situation is, making a boat would be good to increase the chances fishing with the net. Shelter both for me and the plants like wind breaks could be vital if the islands exposed to strong winds

You're right robo, although at the estuary silver eels preparing for migration would often go in and out of the river mouth, caught a lot in the past.

These days I'm purely into sea fishing an island would suit me

That's one fish I've never caught had plenty of cod we get a good run of cod in the winter in the river Mersey, some time ago we would get anything up to fifteen Dutch trawlers going up and down the banks in the Mersey bay we were told they were after turbot but I never caught one or know anybody that did now the erection of windmills have stopped the trawling and the fishing gets better every year

There are no windmills on or off shore of your island

There I was walking around my new domain when I happened upon a family of goats the elder ones ran off but I did manage to capture 2 young ones I kid you knot these I tethered to a tree using rope made from sea grass in time I should have milk and cheese if not at least one for the pot , I later attended to my newly made garden I scattered sea weed on it that I previously washed in the fresh water stream now I'm going to have repast this evening it consists of crab and shell fish I've also put some fish in my home made smoker life could be worse

I thought I had it sussed and was about to suggest the islands of Tean, St. Helens or Samson, all part of the Isles of Scilly. All of which have remains of early Christian places of worship. Were inhabited up to the mid 1800's. Stone is granite and colonies of seals live off shore. Possibility of growing lemon grass and the temperatures, wind speed and direction, were about right.
HOWEVER THE SOIL IS VERY ACIDIC WITH A HIGH SAND CONTENT...no clay in sight.

So now, at least, we can rule these islands out.

OK Pa, so now I'm standing on the North East shore. Where do we go from here?

OK Its a fair cop guv, I blame early Christian society.

I made the bit about clay up to make it a bit more versatile for growing.
Otherwise the south side of Samson is exactly where I had based everybody. It is the largest of the uninhabited Isles.

I suggested a few posts back that people make their way to the North East, they would then have eventually seen that on very low tide they could walk to Tresco, so yes Gerry KEEP WALKING
