Morning Pa Snip, yes, it is happening here, i had just put it down to my computer running slow, what it often does.

Yes a bit slower than normal but loads in the end.

Glad I'm not the only one suffering slow loading of forum pages. Other websites seem perfectly OK but the forum seems to be on a real go-slow. I too was thinking of blaming the computer.

Ditto here! Very slow to load. Knew it wasn't the computer as it's just come out of hospital with a clean bill of health having been corrupted & no other sites were as slow.

At least now it's mentioned some whiz will be on to it & hopefully will be business as usual soon.

Yes, it's taking ages to load here too. As my laptop is only weeks old I was a bit bothered that something was wrong but, everything else loaded fine, thank goodness.
My ancient old laptop took an age to load anything and everything, so I got used to super speedy connections since I got this one!

I seem to recall even dial up loading being faster than this has been today.

What a cracking day it was in this part of Berkshire, I hope many others had a share of it and took advantage.

I got up the plot just before 10am and started preparations on what is to be this years main garlic, shallot and onion bed.
It already contains two varieties of garlic which I planted 23/10/14

Rough dug the Onion bed area then spread over the bags of home made compost from the garden heap at home

Covered Onion area with fleece under coldframes hopefully to warm the ground over next few weeks until currently germinating onions are ready to go out



Final job was split two garlic bulbs into cloves and plant out next to the existing two overwintered varieties.
Got 44 cloves off of the two bulbs, Solent Wight.



Had enough by 2pm and came home.
What an enjoyable and hopefully productive day

I'm jealous, my garden is still under snow.

Nothing under the straw as yet. The larger raised bed is going to be used for Ogen Melons under cold frames this year.
Meanwhile, as it is quite a thick layer it just gives some protection to the soil overwinter.
There is also straw covering each of the four 2ft high square beds not quite in full shot on left bottom corner of first photograph, at present I am planning to try courgettes in those this year

Todays Burning Issue

How on earth did my neighbours greenhouse suddenly catch fire.
I was only one on the plots at the time

The forum had another SQL corruption yesterday.
All sorted now.

I thought i had been banned for gross misbehaviour...

Mine still seems to be running a little slow!!!!!

I agree, since I made the comment about faster loading today it has slowed back down again.

Re the soil.
The entire plot I have is actually the front sections of two plots, being two adjoining half plots each side of a concrete path leading to two half plots behind.
I only took over the section of plot that the onions are going in back in March 2014 when it became available as it was next to existing section.
Prior to that it had not been worked properly for some years.

The soil is actually clay based and has taken some working to get it as it is.
So far that area has had heaps and heaps of home made compost put on and has been constantly deep dug over and I spend time removing bucket loads of the medium to large stones.

The plan is that once I can find someone locally who will deliver a bulk load of manure it will get a good layer. However previous suppliers in the area have now stopped supplying except by self collection
