Thanks Grock, you're a sweetheart. I slept really well last night for the first time in 3 days and feel great this morning. I'm just going to try and forget it ever happened - well until I have to go and clear out my attic anyway (scheduled for next week). It's full of rubbish and boxes etc so I'm using this experience as the kick up the bum to do something about it. I'm going to get it emptied out, reinsulated and partially boarded so I can use it for proper storage and not just junk and the Christmas tree. I'm having the chimneys swept and surveyed on 4 April by a "Master Sweep" who's registered, rather than the local unregistered (and not very good)one plus my neighbour and I with his brushes in between. I also need to get the pointing fixed around the inspection hatch where it's burnt away and may also need the chimney lined. At least it's almost Spring and I would have shut the fire down soon anyway. Heaven only knows when I'll find time to do all of this with the weather warming up, but I guess I can do it at night as it's pretty dark up there without the lights on. :D

Keep on going Chantal.

The what ifs will come. They came on me pretty badly about 9 years ago when I nearly died after complications set in after surgery. If i'd have done what I wanted and gone to bed to sleep one of my kids would have found me dead a few hours later. As it was, The Old Man insisted I went to the Quacks and, the Quack being on the ball saw what was happening and got me into resus in the hospital within 3 minutes. Another 2 hours I would have died.

I had the "what ifs" for quite a while after this but it does end. The best mantra I found was to keep on saying to yourself "it's happend, it's done and it's over. Finished."

You can always email, pm me whenever you like. The same goes for Peter too. Big hugs to all.
Lots of love

You didn't see them Grock and one was a slip of a girl, half my weight and a foot shorter than me. Two were very nice but too old although I'll admit the fourth one would be handy on a frosty night... However, as a happily "married" person I'll leave those thoughts to you.
